One of San Diego’s most beloved food events is back, and it’s bigger than ever. The 24th annual Taste of Adams Avenue transforms a two-mile stretch of some of our favorite neighborhoods into one massive tasting experience, featuring 41 different restaurants, cafes, bakeries, and unique eateries across University Heights, North Park, Normal Heights, and Kensington.

Taste of Adams Avenue

The Ultimate Neighborhood Food Tour

What makes Taste of Adams Avenue special is how it showcases the authentic character of these interconnected neighborhoods.

We’re not talking about a cordoned-off festival area—this event uses the actual streetscape, letting us discover burger joints and sushi restaurants alongside eclectic coffee houses and tried-and-true neighborhood mainstays that have been serving these communities for years.

The event gives us plenty of time to explore without feeling rushed. Whether we prefer to walk the route, bike between locations, or take advantage of the complimentary trolley service, there are multiple ways to experience everything the event offers.

Diverse Dining Options

The participating businesses represent the full spectrum of what makes these neighborhoods so appealing to food lovers.

Mission Brewing brings their craft beer expertise, while Incredible Cheesecake Co. satisfies our dessert cravings. Tajima Ramen North Park offers authentic Japanese flavors, and Ponce’s Mexican Restaurant represents the strong Latino food culture that runs through these areas.

Local favorites like Lestat’s coffee house, Stella Jean’s Ice Cream, and Kensington Cafe anchor the event alongside newer additions like Madi and Maya Moon Collective.

The mix includes everything from White Rice Bodega’s Asian fusion to Pappalecco’s Italian offerings, creating a true international tasting tour within our own city.

Neighborhood Food Tour

Beyond the Food

Part of what makes this event work so well is how it integrates with the existing neighborhood character. While we’re sampling food, we can also explore the distinctive shops that make Adams Avenue such a compelling destination year-round.

Places like Stehly Farms Market and The Rabbit Hole add to the experience, making this as much about neighborhood discovery as it is about food tasting.

Easy Navigation

The complimentary trolley service removes any worry about logistics or parking. We can focus entirely on the tasting experience without having to plan routes or worry about walking distances.

For those who prefer to explore on foot or bike, the two-mile span is totally manageable and lets us really soak in the neighborhood atmosphere.

A True Community Event

Twenty-four years of success speaks to how well this event captures what locals love about these neighborhoods. It’s not trying to be something artificial or overly produced—it’s simply a celebration of the diverse, authentic food scene that already exists along Adams Avenue.

Pacific Beach is about to become mimosa central as San Diego Mimosa Fest transforms the neighborhood into one massive brunch celebration.

This all-access day party brings together the area’s best bars and restaurants for an afternoon of handcrafted brunch bites, specialty mimosas, and the kind of fun that makes summer kickoffs memorable.

san diego Mimosa Fest

How the Fest Works

The concept is brilliant in its simplicity—start at Break Point on Garnet Avenue, then make our way through a curated list of participating venues, each offering their own special brunch and mimosa combinations created just for the event.

What makes this different from a typical bar crawl is the level of coordination. Each venue has developed exclusive brunch cocktail specials and food pairings specifically for Mimosa Fest, so we’re not just hopping between regular weekend brunch menus—we’re experiencing something designed for this event.

The Venue Lineup

The participating spots create a perfect walking route through Pacific Beach. Starting at Break Point, we can hit Mavericks Beach Club, 710 Beach Club, bar Ella, and Tavern at the Beach—all within easy walking distance on Garnet Avenue.

Each location brings its own vibe to the experience, from beachside casual to more refined brunch atmospheres.

The beauty of this setup is that we can choose our own path through the venues while still being part of the larger celebration happening throughout the neighborhood.

Interactive Elements

The Bar Crawl Nation app adds a modern twist to the traditional crawl experience. We can see all participating venues on a map, check in at each stop, and post photos to document the day.

The real fun comes with the QR codes at each venue that unlock spin-to-win prize wheels with instant rewards like free brunch items and giveaways.

For the completists among us, visiting every venue before the event ends unlocks credits toward future events—anywhere from $5 to $25 depending on our luck.

Bar Crawl Nation app

VIP vs General Admission

VIP tickets include everything in general admission plus that crucial two-hour early access and two guaranteed brunch bites at the starting venue. For anyone who wants to experience the event at a more relaxed pace before the crowds arrive, VIP makes sense.

General admission still gets us access to all the venues, specials, app features, and professional photography opportunities.

The creative community gets together once again for CreativeMornings San Diego, and this month’s theme couldn’t be more fitting. PUNK takes center stage with Tim Pyles leading the conversation, bringing decades of experience from San Diego’s music scene to explore what this rebellious movement means in our creative landscape.

Why Tim Pyles is Perfect for This Topic

Anyone who’s been part of San Diego’s music scene knows Tim Pyles. The man they call “the Mayor of Local Music” has spent over 25 years championing artists from our region, from his days at the legendary 91X to his current shows on KXFM, Indie X FM, and KNSJ.

His radio programs focus specifically on Southern California and Tijuana music, making him the perfect person to discuss how punk culture has shaped our local creative community.

Pyles has done more than just play music—he’s been booking bands for iconic venues like the Casbah and Belly Up Tavern, interviewing artists for his NBC show SoundDiego, and most recently launching podcasts that dive deep into the creative process.

His Bar Talk podcast, where he interviews musicians and creatives in casual bar settings, perfectly captures the authentic spirit that punk culture celebrates.

The CreativeMornings Experience

We love how CreativeMornings creates this monthly ritual where the creative community comes together to learn and connect. The Neil Morgan Auditorium at Central Library provides the perfect intimate setting for these talks, and the early morning timing means we can get inspired before diving into our work day.

The global theme of PUNK offers so many angles to explore. Whether we’re talking about the DIY ethos that drives independent artists, the way punk challenged traditional creative boundaries, or how that rebellious spirit continues to influence everything from graphic design to entrepreneurship, there’s plenty to unpack.

What to Expect

Pyles brings a unique perspective to this theme because he’s witnessed firsthand how punk culture has evolved and influenced San Diego’s creative scene. From the early days of alternative radio to today’s diverse musical landscape, he’s seen how that original punk spirit of authenticity and independence continues to drive local artists.

His experience spans multiple media formats, from radio and television to live events and podcasts, giving him insight into how punk’s influence extends far beyond music into all forms of creative expression.

When we need a reason to celebrate the end of June, Estancia La Jolla delivers with their annual Agave Fest. This fourth-year celebration has become one of those events we circle on our calendars early, and for good reason—it’s three hours of unlimited premium agave spirits paired with incredible Baja-inspired food in one of La Jolla’s most beautiful settings.

Agave Fest Estancia La Jolla

The Spirit Selection

The lineup of tequilas and mezcals reads like a who’s who of premium agave producers. We’re talking about heavy hitters like Patrón and Cazadores alongside craft favorites like Cazcanes and Fosforo Mezcal.

Casa Dragones brings their ultra-premium offerings, while Lalo Tequila and Real del Valle round out a collection that spans everything from smooth sipping tequilas to complex, smoky mezcals.

What makes this event special is having actual distillery experts on hand to guide us through tastings. These aren’t just pourers—they’re the people who understand the nuances of each spirit and can help us appreciate what makes each one unique.

Whether we’re agave aficionados or just getting started with premium spirits, there’s something to discover.

Estancia La Jolla

Baja-Inspired Bites

Estancia’s culinary team knows how to complement great spirits with food that enhances rather than competes. Their Baja-inspired menu brings us everything from street tacos that capture those authentic Tijuana flavors to fresh ceviche that pairs beautifully with a crisp blanco tequila.

The unlimited food access means we can pace ourselves properly and really explore how different dishes work with various spirits.

The Full Experience

Beyond the food and drinks, Agave Fest includes live entertainment and what they’re calling “exciting surprises throughout the evening.” We love events that keep us guessing and add those unexpected moments that make the night memorable.

The setting at Estancia doesn’t hurt either—their outdoor spaces provide the perfect backdrop for an evening of celebration.

live band outdoor stage

Make It a Weekend

For those of us who want to extend the experience, Estancia offers an Agave Fest room package that includes accommodations, two event tickets, and an agave-themed amenity. It’s a smart way to turn the evening into a proper staycation without worrying about getting home afterward.

Worth Noting

At $95 per person for unlimited premium spirits, food, and entertainment, this event offers solid value for what we’re getting. The 21+ requirement keeps things appropriately mature, and the three-hour timeframe gives us plenty of opportunity to explore without feeling rushed.

Agave Fest

See you there!

Estancia La Jolla’s Agave Fest combines premium spirits, expert guidance, and great food in La Jolla’s most elegant setting for an unforgettable evening.

Something magical happened last time Daybreaker Coffee Club took over Quartyard, and now it’s happening again. This isn’t your typical morning gathering—it’s a full-throttle celebration of joy, connection, and the kind of energy that makes you feel more alive before noon.

Daybreaker SD

No Yoga, Just Pure Human Connection

This time around, the Coffee Club skips the traditional and dives straight into what sparked magic the first time. We’re talking breathwork with Corey Renbarger to shake off the sleep, coffee socials that spark rebellion against boring mornings, and the kind of human connection that happens when people show up with their hearts open.

The beauty lies in its simplicity—no apps, no algorithms, no scrolling. Just bodies, beats, and full-soul wakefulness in one of downtown’s most vibrant spaces.

Daybreaker Coffee Club

Secret DJ Drops the Morning Beat

When DJ Malcolm Brown throws open the morning with a set designed to hit you right in the bones, you know this isn’t your average coffee meetup. Live performances replace digital distractions, creating an atmosphere where new friends emerge, wild ideas brew, and those spontaneous plots before breakfast actually become reality.

Coffee Culture With a Heartbeat

The concept reimagines what coffee culture can be when it gets a pulse. This gathering attracts joy seekers, deep feelers, and the dance-before-noon-because-why-not crew who understand that mornings don’t have to be mundane survival sessions.

Proven Formula, Fresh Energy

With sold-out events already happening in Miami, LA, and NYC, Coffee Club has tapped into something people crave—authentic connection and celebration that doesn’t require evening commitment or weekend recovery time.

Quartyard’s downtown location and outdoor atmosphere provide the ideal backdrop for this kind of conscious celebration.

Two and a half decades of artistic excellence return to Carlsbad Village. Art in the Village celebrates its 27th year bringing together more than 150 juried local and regional fine artists for a dynamic, open-air showcase that has become one of North County‘s most beloved cultural traditions.

Quality Art in Every Medium

Since 1998, this outdoor art show has maintained its commitment to excellence through a juried selection process that ensures high-quality work across diverse mediums.

From oil paintings and watercolors to glasswork, photography, woodworking, jewelry, pottery, and sculpture, the variety represents the incredible depth of talent in our regional arts community.

The interactive nature sets this apart from typical gallery experiences—visitors can meet artists in their booths, learn about their processes, and purchase original works directly from the creators.

Musical Stage and Sidewalk Performances

Entertainment sponsor Rincon Homes elevates this year’s musical offerings with three main stage acts and roving sidewalk musicians throughout the day.

The Morgan Leigh Band brings San Diego Music Awards-nominated country energy, while SoCal favorites The Ramblin Sweethearts fuse rockabilly, blues, roots, and soul. The David Spitzfaden Trio rounds out the lineup with music that inspires audiences to dance and feel every beat.

New Chalk Zone Features Local Icons

The addition of a dedicated Chalk Zone showcases live painting by five artists, including Carlsbad legends Phyllis Swanson and Ron Juncal.

Swanson’s 25-year muralist career includes features at prestigious events like Santa Barbara’s i’Madonnari street painting festival, while Juncal co-founded Carlsbad’s own ArtSplash chalk festival that ran for 13 years.

Interactive Experiences for All Ages

Beyond browsing and purchasing art, the festival offers hands-on experiences that engage visitors of all ages. Live glassblowing by Barrio Glassworks and sculpting with live models by Lieu de Sculpture provide fascinating demonstrations of artistic processes in action.

The City of Carlsbad Cultural Arts operates Pop-Up Art: An Interactive Encounter, a free art-making pavilion designed for children and families, while face painting ensures the youngest attendees leave with their own artistic creations.

Perfect Location and Accessibility

Just two blocks from Carlsbad State Beach, the State Street and Grand Avenue venue combines coastal charm with easy access. The nearby Carlsbad Village Coaster Station makes public transportation simple, while the city’s complimentary Bike Valet encourages eco-friendly travel to this sustainability-minded event.

Wine lovers, the longest day of the year just got even better. Carruth Cellars brings back their Annual Summer Solstice Barrel Tasting Party at their Liberty Station location, offering a rare chance to taste wines straight from the barrel while celebrating the season’s peak.

Carruth Cellars' Annual Summer Solstice

Two Sessions, Maximum Flexibility

The celebration splits into two distinct experiences at the Liberty Station Tasting Room & Wine Garden. Early Birds can enjoy the session with DJ Tykes providing the soundtrack, while Night Owls get the experience featuring live music by Lissa Dee.

Both sessions deliver the same exceptional wine experience with different vibes to match your Saturday style.

Straight from the Barrel Experience

For $76 per person, guests sample 12 wines directly from the barrel—a unique opportunity that most wine enthusiasts rarely get to experience.

Carruth Cellars showcases their 2023 and 2024 vintages, giving participants an insider’s look at wines that are still developing their character before bottling.

The garden patio setting at Liberty Station’s Historic Decatur location creates the perfect atmosphere for this kind of intimate wine exploration.

Futures Program Offers Serious Value

The futures program provides access to significant discounts up to 50% off wines that are still aging in the barrel. Once these wines are bottled in the fall, participants get contacted for pickup—essentially allowing wine lovers to invest in exceptional bottles at pre-release pricing.

It’s a win-win that supports the winery while giving serious wine enthusiasts access to limited production wines at substantial savings.

Food and Music Complete the Celebration

Wood-fired pizza from California Poppy Cafe pairs perfectly with the barrel tastings, while live music creates the kind of festive atmosphere that makes summer solstice celebrations memorable. The souvenir glass ensures you take home a piece of this special tasting experience.
